The First Emperor of Great Qin, Ying Zheng, was a brilliant and ambitious ruler who unified the six kingdoms, yet died in the prime of his life. As he lay dying, what worried him most was his precious daughter, Ying Ge, who had nothing going for her besides her beauty and enormous appetite. To keep her safe, he made elaborate arrangements, passed the throne to her, and appointed his most “trusted” chancellor, Zhao Gao, to assist her, believing he had secured Great Qin’s future.
The good news: Ying Ge ascended the throne without a hitch, becoming Great Qin’s first empress.
The bad news: Chancellor Zhao Gao was an ambitious schemer who wanted to “call a deer a horse,” and the entire court regarded her as a puppet they could manipulate at will.
The even worse news: Everything Ying Ge did was being broadcast through a “Mirror of Reincarnation” (the sky screen) from the underworld to the recently deceased First Emperor, Ying Zheng!
Ying Zheng had thought he could relax and enjoy tea in the underworld, but he never expected to spend his days watching his silly daughter’s livestreamed attempts at ruling the country.
Watching Zhao Gao talk his daughter into building a lavish palace, Ying Zheng slammed his fist down and shattered a table in the underworld. “You unfilial brat! This is a sign the country is doomed!”
But Ying Ge just tilted her head. “Build a palace? Too slow. I’ll go up the mountain, haul back a few boulders, and build one myself.”
Then, under everyone’s astonished gaze, she carried back an entire small mountain.
When the remnants of the six kingdoms rebelled and the ministers discussed complicated strategies to put down the uprising, Ying Zheng paced frantically in front of the Mirror of Reincarnation. “Send in the troops! Hurry!”
But Ying Ge, chewing on a chicken leg, said, “Fight a war? What a hassle. I’ll just go ask their leader why they’re fighting.”
Then she marched alone into the rebel camp and carried their leader back like a little chicken.
In the underworld, Ying Zheng watched through the Mirror of Reincarnation as his daughter settled things with her fists
