Siheyuan: I Serve a State Banquet, and You Call Me an Apprentice?

[Period drama and courtyard rivalries + culinary clashes + highly intelligent protagonist + satisfying schemer story + play the pig to eat the tiger]

When Li Zhenhua wakes up, he’s back in a courtyard in the 1960s, having become a lowly apprentice in the canteen whom everyone can bully.

Faced with a courtyard full of petty squabbles and open as well as covert attacks, he smiles.

Trying to outsmart me? Your grandmaster is right here!

Silly Zhu flaunts his cooking skills? Li Zhenhua makes a dish of plain cabbage so delicious it beats chicken soup, leaving Bang Geng drooling and Silly Zhu white with rage!

Xu Damao smears his name and jams his lock? Li Zhenhua turns the tables, locks Xu Damao in the chicken coop overnight, then publicly puts him on trial at the next courtyard meeting!

The Third Master wants to take advantage of him? Li Zhenhua calculates every last cent, brings in the First Master as a witness, and leaves the old miser so furious his beard trembles!

Jia Zhangshi throws a tantrum? He calls in the neighborhood committee to “bring her some warmth,” and from then on she goes out of her way to avoid him!

In this extraordinary era, cooking is a sword and human nature is a shield.

Watch how I use wisdom and culinary skills far ahead of my time to fight my way through the schemes of the courtyard’s beasts, make a fortune in silence, and climb step by step from a humble apprentice to a living legend!
