Introduction to the novel "Echoes of the Past" (this book is a post-apocalyptic wasteland + hard-core philosophy, please don't read if you don't mind):
This is a wasteland world destroyed by the catastrophe of "Silent Decay": here, people cannot speak because the old world tried to use the "Voice of Laplace" to create a unified language to eliminate disputes, but it triggered a plague of thoughts. Human beings were either reduced to "echoers" repeating single actions, or were deprived of language and emotions. In order to curb the spread of disaster, Clockwork City promulgated the "Silent Agreement" to confine all voices in an absolute order. The bell-caster Sile holds the power of life and death, and regards "silence" as the only criterion for human survival.
The aphasic scavenger Crow is a survivor of the catastrophe and an eyewitness to the tragedy. His family was once a core member of the "Prometheus Project." The genetic shackles imposed by his mother to protect him turned him into a silent and lonely soul. While scavenging, he accidentally obtained an old-world gear, which awakened the incomplete robot "Zero" that carried his father's consciousness. This gear is not only the link between the two, but also the key to unlocking the truth about "Silent Withering".
In order to find the "source of sound" that can break the curse of aphasia, and to reveal the conspiracy behind the catastrophe, Crow and Zero embarked on a journey across the wasteland. They have to travel through the waste abyss of the Rusty Canyon, the resonance trap of the Crystallized Forest, the silent maze of distorted time and space, fight against the hunt of the "Iron Crow Squadron" of the Clockwork City, the deadly pursuit of the Inquisitor, and reach a mysterious resonance with the "Whisperer" who has evolved a new civilization...
