After graduating from college, Tong Jingjie rents an old apartment in an urban village to save money. Just starting out in the working world, he hasn't found a stable job yet and is short on rent. His gentle landlady sometimes reminds him to pay, but always takes care to be tactful.
One night, after working late, Tong Jingjie rounds a corner in the stairwell and finds his landlady dealing with a difficult situation on her own, looking flustered. He tries to quietly slip away, but she notices him, and the scene turns awkward in an instant.
Before Tong Jingjie can explain, his landlady speaks first: “Jingjie, you seem like an honest, hardworking young man. Why don't you meet my daughter? You young people ought to have plenty to talk about.”
Tong Jingjie can't make heads or tails of this stroke of luck. Before he can process the sudden suggestion, he discovers that his landlady's “difficult situation” is tied to a whole string of troubles.
This book is very well written, with a good storyline. I hope the author will continue to update it, not to interrupt it, not to end it, and to give it a full five-star rating!
