Qin Ruochen, a transmigrator versed in the profound arts of Chinese Taoism, is unexpectedly sent back to his youth by a tribulation of lightning. He takes refuge in the mysterious Tongtian Temple. He once watched helplessly as the cat demon Xiaoxiao, who had exhausted her cultivation to save him, perished completely. The regret became a heart demon, driving him to withdraw from the world and cultivate in seclusion for six years. Then, at the age of nineteen, unable to disobey his master's orders, he has to return to the mortal world to protect the daughter of an old friend, a young woman named Xiaoxiao.
Qin Ruochen opens the Chinese Medical Clinic in Donghai City. Acupuncture and medicine are its outward face, while balancing yin and yang and the five elements is its deeper purpose. As he heals the sick and saves lives, he accumulates boundless merit and takes on thirteen personal disciples, a number that echoes the five elements and the eight trigrams. But beneath the calm, dark currents are gathering. The Demon Sect has returned, and its target is the young woman Xiaoxiao. As Qin Ruochen clashes with the demonic path, the laws of space and time branded into him when he transmigrated gradually awaken. Using martial arts as a path to the Dao, he fuses national arts such as Taiji and the Two Forms Sword Technique with the power of space and time, displaying astonishing combat prowess.
As the investigation deepens, a shocking conspiracy emerges: someone intends to summon demons from beyond the realms and bring down the world. It seems to trace back to the same branch of the Demon Sect that killed the cat demon Xiaoxiao. Qin Ruochen and his disciples face powerful enemies with wondrous formations, and as they protect and redeem others, his feelings for Lin Xiaoxiao grow ever stronger. In the end, to put a stop to the crisis once and for all, they ascend to an immortal realm drained of resources and on the brink of destruction.
There, the dormant chaos core in Qin Ruochen finally erupts. At the brink of life and death, he opens an inner universe of his own and attains the Dao fruit of a Great Golden Immortal. He realizes that the way home is within reach, but saving this shattered world is an urgent responsibility he cannot ignore.
See what he chooses.
