The bully who just kicked me had a lifeless black light above his head. I knew he wouldn't survive the night.
But that miserable man who was huddled in the corner, about to freeze to death just like me, had a dazzling red gold color on top of his head, as bright as a ball of fire.
So, when the bully came back and prepared to finish me off, I used my last strength to crawl in front of the man and put the only relic my father had left me - an ancestral jade pendant hidden in my arms - into his hand.
I said to him: "This jade pendant is priceless and I am sending it to you. All I ask is that you take me away. Whenever I am asked to do anything in the future, I, Chen Wangwan, will not hesitate to do so."
The bullies laughed, and so did the onlookers, who all said I was crazy for using a broken jade pendant to beg someone who was even worse off than me.
But the next second, the man stood up and brushed the snow off his body, and a dozen knife-wielding guards suddenly emerged from behind him.
He weighed the jade pendant in his hand and gave me an approving smile.
"You have a good vision. I am in need of a housekeeper. Come with me."
