This is an epic adventure about faith, growth, and teamwork.
In the ancient land of Shenzhou, humans, demons, and immortals coexist, while order and chaos intertwine. Tang Sanzang is a monk with great ambitions, held back by the limits of mortal life. Entrusted with a mission by both Heaven and the emperor, he vows to travel a hundred thousand li to the sacred mountain of Lingshan and obtain the scriptures that can guide all living beings and bring peace.
But the journey for the scriptures was never one man’s quest. Along the way, he meets three companions bound to him by fate:
· Sun Wukong: Once the unruly Great Sage Equal to Heaven, who wreaked havoc in the Celestial Palace, he was imprisoned beneath Five Elements Mountain for five hundred years. The team’s unstoppable spear, he possesses power that reaches the heavens and fiery golden eyes. Through hardship, he learns responsibility and loyalty.
· Zhu Bajie: Once Marshal Tianpeng, commander of the Celestial River Navy, he was cast down to the mortal world for an offense. He loves comfort, and his humor and laziness make him the team’s “troublemaker,” yet he’s also endearingly honest and always steps up when it matters.
· Sha Wujing: Once a Curtain-Raising General, he was banished to the Flowing Sands River after a misstep. Taciturn and tireless, he is the team’s most dependable support, carrying the baggage on his shoulders and shouldering their faith as well.
Together, they face eighty-one trials. From the perilous lairs of demon kings to the bewildering realms of immortals, from traps that test their wits to temptations that prey on their desires. Each trial is a battle, and every battle brings growth. This is not only a long journey across thousands of miles, but also a pilgrimage of spiritual cleansing and refinement.
Against a magnificent backdrop of myth, Journey for the Scriptures is a modern fable about redemption, promises, and the spirit of teamwork.
