Shangguan Wan'er (664-710), a famous female official and poet in the Tang Dynasty, was known as the "female prime minister". Her grandfather, Shangguan Yi, was killed for opposing Wu Zetian, and she was enslaved in Yeting since she was a child. She showed extraordinary talent in the palace and was appreciated by Wu Zetian. She was promoted to a female official in charge of imperial edicts, responsible for drafting edicts and participating in political decisions.
During the Zhongzong period, he was granted the title of Zhaorong, became more powerful, and enjoyed a high status in both political and literary circles. She established the Xiuwen Museum, commented on world poetry on behalf of the imperial court, advocated the metrical poetry style, and promoted the standardized development of poetry art in the Tang Dynasty. Although she was involved in the Rebellion of Queen Wei and was eventually killed by Li Longji, her legendary life demonstrated the rare political and literary influence of women in the Tang Dynasty.
