A journey on a white horse cannot outrun the lingering spring breeze;
A dark river cannot flow past the abyss of fate;
A song of youth cannot sing of all the storms and snow.
But when “she” steps onto this chessboard, every predetermined course will be rewritten.
This is the worst of times, full of shifting intrigue; it is also the best of times, with all the stars shining together.
[I managed to hold back after watching The Blood of Youth and Dashing Youth, but I just couldn’t resist Dark River, so I started this book. It’s divided into three parts, but I’ll try to make the transitions feel seamless. Many of my favorite couples won’t get tragic endings. For Dashing Youth, it’s Wen Xiaoyue and Ye Dingzhi; for Dark River, it’s Lin Wuchi and Su Changhe; for The Blood of Youth, it’s Ye Anlan and Xiao Se. I haven’t read the novels, so I’m mostly following the TV adaptations. Apologies for any out-of-character moments. My writing is only so-so.]
So when to write about Su Changhe?
