Bone-Deep Desire: Falling into Danger

[This has little to do with the sequel. I started this book because I wanted to write a dark story about northern Myanmar. It's a parallel world, and the emotional entanglements have nothing to do with the sequel! Nothing to do with it! Really! In that story, Manyi was a C when she met Zhou Jibai! This isn't that story! Also, the Manyi in this book is utterly unforgivable. I originally intended to write her die, so you can just read it as fanfiction.]

The first time she picked up a knife, she was thirteen.

When the blood splattered across her face, she suddenly remembered the afternoon her father sold her. The weather had been just as hot then.

In her world,

it was always this kind of weather.
