The Romance of the Tang Dynasty (Complete in Eight Volumes)

When Emperor Xuanzong of Tang visited the Moon Palace, he harassed Su'e. In response, the Jade Emperor sent the Azure Dragon Star, An Lushan, down to earth to throw the Tang dynasty into turmoil.

Yang Guozhong and Yang Guifei schemed to force the empress to her death, and the crown prince was driven from the palace. Guo Ziyi and others rescued him and took him to Mount Taihang. Li Linfu and An Lushan attacked Mount Taihang three times, but were beaten back at every turn. While petitioning to let the Xiliang foreign troops enter the Central Plains and attack Mount Taihang, Li Linfu also conspired with foreign states in an attempt to usurp the throne. Guo Ziyi and the other heroes repelled the foreign troops, then led an army to conquer Xiliang and force it to submit. At that point, An Lushan launched another rebellion and invaded the capital. Guo Ziyi and Zhong Jingqi joined forces to put down the revolt. In the end, the heroes were rewarded according to their merits and returned home in glory.
