The Tainted Immortal: Fighting for My Life on the Path to Hell

Shen Jue was the most talented assassin of the Blood Shadow Pavilion, a great demonic sect. He cultivated the Bone-Eroding Demonic Art, but while carrying out an assassination mission against a towering figure of the righteous path, he was betrayed by his sect and a traitor from the righteous factions working together. His body was blasted to pieces, and only a wisp of his remnant soul survived, protected by the demonic artifact Heart-Shattering Pendant he carried. It took refuge in the body of an outer disciple from a minor sect who had just died in an internal power struggle.

In this cultivation world, the righteous sects monopolize spirit-energy mines and enslave rogue cultivators in the name of “slaying demons and vanquishing evil.” The demonic factions use “settling scores as one pleases” as a pretext, but in truth, they refine human lives into pills. So-called righteousness and evil are merely excuses for predators to divide up territory. The lives of low-ranking cultivators have always been nothing more than dust to be trampled at will.

Carrying fragments of his demonic art and memories of betrayal etched into his soul, Shen Jue struggles to survive in a world where black and white have been turned upside down. As he hides his identity and repairs his soul, he walks the line between the righteous and demonic factions. Every breath he takes reeks of blood and calculation.
