In the cold weather of 1968, something strange happened in Zhaojiatun by the Songhua River - Zhao Tianci, a landlord's son who froze to death on an old elm tree during the land reform, was reincarnated into a gray donkey who could speak Northeastern dialect. It remembers everything in its previous life: it remembers how the peasant association stuffed its father into an ice cave, how it remembers how it was tied to a tree and sang "The Sing of the Enlightened Serf", and it even remembers that the village chief who took the lead in criticizing it was the cowherd boy it rescued from the bearded (bandit) knife in its previous life.
Now his name is Donkey Erye. During the day, he pulls a sledge covered with big-character posters to travel around the village. At night, he chats with the decentralized old rightists in the livestock shed. He saw with his own eyes the female director and the keeper of the grain depot "breaking their shoes" behind the rice stacks, and heard with his own ears the educated youth chewing oak leaves as cigarettes. When the famine was at its worst, people in the whole village suddenly discovered that this "four old poisons" had become a life-saving talisman - it could smell out all the frozen vole nests under the snow.
When the spring breeze of reform and opening up reached Guandong, Mr. Donkey had already had five masters. It stood at the gate of the newly opened lumberyard, watching the people who criticized it in the past now nodding and bowing to the southern boss. It suddenly jumped up and laughed, and the laughter sounded like crying. The moonlight shines on the five-star scar burned by the iron on its back, making the snow glow red. On the old elm tree on the other side of the river, several night owls were imitating human speech: "This donkey has become a spirit..."

When I wrote this novel, which is a collection of Northeastern stories, I didn't want to play any fancy tricks. I just wanted to write about those hot, rough days on the black land, with tears in the laughter.
There are no earth-shattering plots in the stories here. They are all chatter between neighbors, gossips at the dinner table, and the warmth and warmth of human relationships on snowy nights. They are the straightforwardness and righteousness engraved in the bones of Northeastern people, as well as the gentleness hidden in jokes.
Each short story is a piece of fireworks. When put together, it is the most authentic Northeastern world. I hope that after reading these words, you can hear the chatter of the kang, smell the aroma of the iron pot, and feel the unique warmth and sincerity of this land.
I want to write the stories of each northeastern city in various styles and themes. Maybe one day I will write about your city?
You must see Jinzhou Youth Tour, you must watch Jinzhou Youth Tour. This book is really a treasure
