The protagonist Gu Chuanze, a "waste" with a genetic score of only 35, makes a living by scavenging at the bottom of society. In order to raise medical expenses for his seriously ill sister, he broke into the restricted area and accidentally fused with a mysterious alien symbiote. He has since gained the ability to extract and fuse gene fragments of any living thing.
