Slam Dunk: Long Live the Delinquents

This is a sweeping story set in the world of Slam Dunk.

Basketball is part of it, and the first year's timeline will mostly follow the original manga.

Though the protagonist, Yamamoto Taro, is a reserve player on the Shohoku basketball team, his real battleground is hardly the basketball court.

It's the path of the yakuza.

The Shohoku Five won't be replaced, at least not in the first year.

I wrote this book to address the regrets I have about SD.

Some characters appeared for far too brief a time, existing only for those fleeting moments on the court.

Murazame and Naito from Miuradai... Godai and Izumi from Tsukubu... Sendoh and Uozumi from Ryonan... Fujima and Hanagata from Shoyo...

I don't think their lives should be about basketball alone.

They deserve to be richer and more colorful!

In my story, everyone will have a complete life story. Some parts may be absurd, but that's what novels are for: drama.

I just want to bring all the regrets of our youth back to life.

I plan to make this story very, very long. The high school setting will continue in the spirit of SD, both as a tribute to SD and to our own funny, innocent, clueless youth.
