A New Journey to the West: Wukong Returns

In the novel Journey to the West: Wukong Returns, the story takes place several hundred years after Tang Sanzang and his three disciples endured the Eighty-One Tribulations and obtained the true scriptures. The world has changed beyond recognition. The heroes of old are gradually being forgotten, while a new crisis quietly descends.

The protagonist, Sun Xiaosheng, is a descendant of Sun Wukong and the Fairy Zixia. By chance, he discovers a secret left behind by his father: the Havoc in Heaven five hundred years ago concealed a shocking conspiracy. This plot concerns not only his family’s fate, but the safety of the entire Three Realms. To uncover the truth and save all living beings, Sun Xiaosheng sets out on a journey to find answers.

Along the way, he meets new companions with very different personalities: Xiaolongnu, the clever and courageous daughter of the Little White Dragon; A Bao, a quick-witted mortal boy; and Ling’er, a mysterious demon girl. Together, they overcome countless challenges, face powerful enemies, and gradually unravel one mystery after another about the past and the present.

Unlike the traditional Journey to the West, Journey to the West: Wukong Returns blends modern elements with fresh ideas. It preserves the original’s classic characters and exciting episodes while adding new faces to breathe new life into the old story. The book features not only intense battles, but also heartfelt exchanges and explorations of human nature, offering readers a feast for both the eyes and the soul.
