Lin Ran, a supreme martial artist, is ambushed by his close friend and the three great clans while breaking through to the Divine Realm. He detonates himself and dies, then is reborn six years earlier. Weak and abandoned by his girlfriend, he is fired from his company and forced to rent a rundown apartment. After getting into a street fight, he activates the Cause and Effect System. His first victory over a thug grants him basic fighting skills. He defeats the hired goons sent by his former company and earns his first Cause and Effect points, which he uses to strengthen his body. Then, in an underground parking lot, he faces off against a low-level martial artist and wins by a narrow margin through sheer skill, gaining his first martial arts experience.
