Hunting the Occult, Starting with 500,000 in Debt

Year 6600 of the Cosmic Calendar

Country A

After another world war and a technological renaissance, humanity embarked on a new chapter: the interstellar age. At the same time, spiritual energy began to recover, and ordinary people started awakening supernatural abilities.

Technological progress and the awakening of supernatural powers brought people unprecedented happiness. But the eerie beings that feed on human desire also grew stronger as spiritual energy returned.

They appear at random, with random threat levels and random forms.

In response, a highly dangerous supernatural military academy was established in the west by the Institute for Supernatural Research. After accidentally consuming the core of a king-class juvenile Void Beast, Qi Yuan awakened the ability to travel through space. He used it to snatch a drowning person from the jaws of a fish and save them.

Once he had mastered his ability, Qi Yuan followed the principle that a passionate young person should do good without seeking recognition. With his “light-fingered” skills, he took money from corrupt officials, food from refrigerated warehouses, and surplus clothing from factories, then distributed them to the impoverished people of the northeast.

Just as he was congratulating himself on his heroic deeds, an application for admission arrived from the highly dangerous supernatural military academy.

From then on, Qi Yuan began a life of slaying eerie beings and fighting against otherworldly races.
