Xiao Ziyan was born in 1980. Back then, though, she wasn’t called Xiao Ziyan. Her name was Xiao Yu.
In 1996, seventeen-year-old Xiao Yu became the first person from her village to get into a university for an undergraduate degree.
In 2000, after an accident, Xiao Yu changed her name to Xiao Ziyan. The moment she received her new ID card, she told herself, “There is no more Xiao Yu in this world. There is only Xiao Ziyan.”
In 2012, thirty-two-year-old Xiao Ziyan saw again the person who had haunted her dreams and filled her with pain for years.
From that day on, two people who had long since gone their separate ways began fighting and hating each other all over again.
My favorite and the subject I most want to write about. The prejudice against women in this world is deep-rooted. In the 21st century, which has been nearly a hundred years, some people still treat women differently even if they are called women. Therefore, if a woman wants to break into the world, she must work harder and pay more. Xiao Ziyan is unfortunate but also lucky. On the way forward, she is accompanied by good friends and a lover who truly cares for her. But there are also people who want to push her into the swamp without being able to stand up. Everyone here is just a microcosm of the world. Maybe there are such shadows around you and me.
