Introduction to the novel
Lin Wanqiu, a modern independent woman, after an accident, her soul traveled to the Hongqi Production Brigade in the north in 1976 and became Lin Wanqiu, a girl with the same name and surname who was in a coma due to high fever. The original owner was the second daughter who was not taken seriously in the family. She had a strong and protective eldest sister and a spoiled younger brother. Her parents were very patriarchal and her life was tight and depressing.
With modern knowledge and vague memories of the 1970s, Lin Wanqiu woke up and faced the embarrassing reality of adobe houses, patched clothes, and meals based on work points. Instead of feeling sorry for herself, she decided to rely on her own hands to gain a foothold in this era of scarcity but full of vitality.
She quietly improved her family's life with insights beyond her time: she improved farm tools to increase efficiency, grew rare crops on her own land, and made delicious dishes with simple ingredients; she studied hard, seized the opportunity to resume the college entrance examination, and fought for a different life for herself; she also used sincerity and wisdom to resolve conflicts with her neighbors and win respect.
In the process, she met Gu Beichen, a taciturn but upright and reliable veteran. From the initial mutual testing to the later support of each other, the two faced the challenges of life together in that special era, guarded their sincere emotions, witnessed the changes of the times together, and wrote a story of struggle and warmth that belonged to them.
