The Phoenix Returns to Its Nest: Reborn, the Empress Takes Flight

She was Ulanara Jingxian, empress of the Qing Dynasty. In her previous life, she was trapped by palace rules and obsessed with power. She was thoroughly defeated in her struggle against Xiaoyanzi and Ziwei, and ultimately met a tragic end, confined to the Cold Palace until she died of sorrow.

When she opened her eyes again, she had returned to the time when My Fair Princess had just entered the imperial palace, before any of the turmoil had begun.

Her phoenix eyes opened anew, and she saw what lay ahead. After passing through life and death, the old grudges and childish rivalries seemed like fleeting clouds. In this life, she would no longer cling to being a “virtuous empress” beloved by the emperor. She would become a truly indispensable empress, one the emperor, the court, and the whole realm could not do without.

She wins Ziwei’s favor ahead of time and gives Xiaoyanzi guidance, turning potential enemies into allies. Drawing on the memories of her previous life, she resolves crises in the palace and offers counsel at court, gradually tightening her grip on power.

Yet just when she thinks everything is under control, she discovers that fate has already veered off course. Why does the Qianlong Emperor, who was at daggers drawn with her in her previous life, look at her with such a searching, infatuated gaze? And the currents lurking beneath the prosperous age seem far more perilous than she ever knew...

This is the empress’s overwhelming advantage. Watch as she rises above the palace intrigues and power struggles of her second life, her phoenix cry soaring through the skies as she ascends to the very top, ultimately becoming the mother of the realm and wielding power over the entire court.
