"A Dream of Red Mansions" is one of the four great classics in ancient China and is also known as the pinnacle of ancient Chinese novels. It describes not only the love tragedy of Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu, but also a long scroll of the fate of hundreds of characters in the great social changes. There are many versions of the work circulating in the world. In order to solve the problem of selecting editions, the first eighty chapters of this book use the earliest Gengchen edition, which is also the base of the Zhi Ping edition. The last forty chapters use the Cheng Jia edition published by Gao E. This ensures the integrity of the work while faithfully presenting the original meaning of the original text.
