In "Cloud City", a city wrapped in code and neon lights, Lu Ye, a 26-year-old programmer, is rubbed against the keyboard by the "996 Blessing Report" every day. His life creed is "I will never be bald until I remove bugs." His biggest dream is to save enough money to "moisten up" and live in the suburbs. Until late one night when he was working overtime until the early hours of the morning, a line of code he typed to repair a strange program unexpectedly opened a gap between reality and the "illusion of ancient books" - a study room smelling of ink suddenly appeared on the screen, and Su Wan, a girl wearing a plain gown, was repairing broken ancient books under the lamp.
Su Wan lives in an "old paper world" where time flows slowly and history is recorded only by paper and pen and ink. Her biggest worry is that there are always some broken pages of ancient books floating around like "naughty emoticons" and cannot find their home. Two people from completely different worlds initially panicked when they thought it was a "virus in the computer" and "hallucinations", but later shared each other's lives across the screen: Lu Ye used codes to help Su Wan sort out the chaotic index of ancient books, while Su Wan used the wisdom in ancient books to help Lu Ye resolve the problems of "blame-shifting" and "Party A making things difficult" in the workplace.
