Great Tang: I Sang Blue and White Porcelain, and They Thought I Was an Immortal Descending to Earth

Su Chen transmigrates to the Zhenguan era and becomes an obscure storyteller in Chang’an.

The bad news: Business is terrible, and he’s about to be unable to pay rent and starve to death on the street.

The worse news: Everything he makes up is broadcast live to Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin, by some contraption called the “Great Tang Sky Screen”!

To put food on the table, Su Chen has no choice but to make things up onstage, never expecting it to launch him to the pinnacle of life.

When he gets thirsty while telling a story, he sighs, “The sky blue waits for the misty rain, and I wait for you.”

On the sky screen, a breathtaking ink painting slowly unfolds.

Li Shimin, dropping the teacup in his hand: “Only the heavens could have such a line! Who is this ‘you’ he’s waiting for? Is it me?”

When he gets to the end of the Sui dynasty, he casually comments, “Yang Guang’s three campaigns against Goguryeo were purely a strategic mistake. If it were me, I’d cut off their supply lines first, then conquer them culturally. Goguryeo would submit within ten years.”

On the sky screen, a wargame simulation immediately begins, and Goguryeo is indeed soundly defeated.

Li Shimin, trembling with excitement: “The gentleman is truly a divine being! Convey my decree: appoint Mr. Su Grand Marshal of the Armies!”

As he talks about the rise and fall of dynasties, he sighs, “The foundation of a dynasty isn’t its emperors, ministers, or generals, but its workers, farmers, and merchants. Want to get rich? Build roads first, folks!”

On the sky screen, countless ghostly images of concrete roads and elevated highways appear.

Li Shimin: “...”

Empress Zhangsun: “Your Majesty, you haven’t slept for three days and nights.”

Li Shimin, his eyes bloodshot: “Leave me alone! I’m waiting for the gentleman’s next update! Hurry, move my dragon throne to the teahouse. I’m going to serve him tea myself!”
