Where Starlight Meets

Starlight, Together tells the story of Lin Wanxing, a newly minted editor, and Shen Zhiheng, a painter and volunteer who rescues animals. The two meet by chance in a narrow alley in the old district, and their paths become intertwined.

Lost in a maze of lanes with her suitcase in tow, Lin Wanxing meets the gentle, reserved Shen Zhiheng. A steaming bowl of tomato and egg noodles marks the beginning of their connection. She is a rookie editor searching for warmth in the world of words, while he is a kindhearted painter who records everyday life with his brush and quietly protects stray animals. Their shared sensitivity and kindness draw them closer through the little moments of daily life.

From walking side by side in the summer night breeze to whispering beneath an old pagoda tree; from caring for injured stray cats and dogs together at a shelter to nervously and honestly meeting each other's parents; from the solemn promise on their marriage certificate to the vow they make beneath the aurora, their love is never marked by earth-shattering drama. Instead, it is tucked into every little moment: a warm bowl of wontons after a late night of overtime, her figure secretly hidden in his paintings, an awkward apology after an argument, and an enduring devotion that never changes with the years.

Set against the lively, everyday atmosphere of the old district and interwoven with the heartwarming story of rescuing stray animals, this novel traces an ordinary couple's journey from meeting and understanding one another to spending their lives together. It shows love in its truest form: not grand, passionate vows, but steady companionship; two independent souls choosing one another and growing together, gently lighting each other's way through the ordinary years.
