On the day when scarlet rain poured down, Lin Chen was looking at the screen of his mobile phone, laughing at the absurdity of the "doomsday warnings" in the news. But when the first zombie with ulcerated skin and glowing green eyes broke through the glass, and smelly saliva dripped on his face, he realized that the countdown to human civilization had reached zero.
The city fell, order collapsed, the neon lights of the past turned into life-devouring will-o'-the-wisps, and the familiar streets were filled with corpses and abandoned steel. During his escape, Lin Chen awakened the ability of "civilization retrospection" and was able to extract pre-catastrophic technical blueprints, weapon parts, and even lost survival knowledge from discarded items.
When others were still fighting for their lives for a piece of compressed biscuit, he used the extracted blueprints to build bulletproof fortifications; when the superpowers relied on power to run rampant, he relied on retroactive weapon technology to let thermal weapons shine again in the end of the world; when desperate people huddled in the ruins waiting to die, he pulled together a team and raised the flag of a "new civilization" in the wasteland.
But he soon discovered that the zombies were just the appetizer. Mutated animals and plants are entrenched deep in the city. "Evolvers" who possess strange powers divide their spheres of influence. There are also mysterious organizations hidden behind the fog. They seem to have predicted this disaster and are watching the struggles of the survivors with cold eyes.
Lin Chen tightened his grip on the rifle assembled from old-era parts and looked at the roaring tide of corpses in the distance and the giant black shadow under the skyline. He knew that if he wanted to survive and rebuild civilization, it was not enough to just look back on the past. He must make his own path in this wasteland - a path paved with blood, steel and unyielding will.
