The Puppet Princess: After Her Dark Turn, Everyone Faces Their Comeuppance

The empire's shadow commander, “Other Shore Flower,” died in a meticulously planned betrayal. When she opened her eyes again, she had become an eight-year-old invalid in the Prince Jing's household, an easy target for anyone to manipulate. Her father, Prince Jing, was a gentle and refined man, praised throughout the court as a virtuous prince, yet repeatedly framed and stripped of his military power. Her mother was frail, forced to tread carefully amid the struggles of the inner court. This was no coincidence. It was a vast conspiracy targeting the Prince Jing's household. I kept my claws hidden and my sharp edges concealed, playing the part of an innocent porcelain doll. I smiled as I ate the poisoned pastries my father's concubine sent me, then made sure she suffered the consequences herself. I followed every clue to uncover the leaks in my father's army, rooting them out completely. Each “accident” was a precise reprisal against the mastermind behind it, all made to look perfectly reasonable. From the shadows, I made my moves, clearing obstacles in the court for my father and quietly sending evidence of the crimes to the emperor. The capital was a web of intrigue, yet the Prince Jing's household seemed blessed by heaven, escaping danger at every turn. But the real storm had only just begun. At the palace banquet, assassins sprang into action, lunging straight for the throne. This was no simple assassination attempt, but the start of an even more ingenious frame-up. As everyone stared in shock, I “happened” to throw myself in front of the assassin's blade, crushing his throat in the most innocent and courageous manner imaginable. In a pool of blood, I raised tear-filled eyes, feigning terror, and met the deep, fathomless gaze of the man on the throne. He offered no comfort or praise. In the silent hall, he slowly spoke, his voice quiet but chilling enough to freeze my spine: “Prince Jing, this daughter of yours... who is she, really?”
