New Tales from Strange Tales: Demons and Immortals in Another World

Lu Mingxuan, a modern programmer well versed in folklore, is accidentally summoned while restoring his family's heirloom, Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio. He transmigrates into the body of a scholar traveling to take the imperial exams. In this world of Strange Tales, where demons run rampant, he is forced to face painted-skin demons and the haunted temple at Lanruo, but in the process he also activates the mysterious Otherworldly Demon Immortal System.

The System is actually the ancient supreme treasure, the Myriad Demons Codex. It helps him “resolve” classic Strange Tales stories, collect key spirits such as Nie Xiaoqian, and earn growth points. He cultivates the unique Immortal Art of Demon Spirits, using a modern mindset and systematic methods to rise from a lowly demon apprentice, outwit monsters, and navigate the line between good and evil.

Lu Mingxuan's journey spans the Three Realms. He reforms the underworld and debates the law with Zhong Kui; he challenges the laws of Heaven and undergoes trials with the Great Sage. His aim goes far beyond attaining immortality and the Dao. Using the power of the myriad demons he has collected as his foundation, he will rewrite the decaying laws of Heaven and establish a new divine order where merit is the measure and all spirits are equal. Along the way, he is both a challenger to the old order and the founder of new laws that will stand level with Heaven.
