Chen Jin, on the surface, is a low-level lieutenant of the "Suppression of Evil Division" in the late Ming Dynasty (a secret official organization, directly under Chongzhen, responsible for investigating changes in rivers and lakes and suppressing civil unrest). In fact, he is a descendant of Jianwen Emperor Zhu Yunwen.
