As Lin Xuan lies on the brink of death, a mysterious being chooses him at the end of his life and makes him a "Torchbearer" who travels between the myriad worlds. His mission is to venture into fictional worlds filled with unresolved regrets, mend the sorrows etched into the fabric of time, and restore broken threads of cause and effect.
His journey begins in the bustling martial world of Kung Fu Hustle, where he uses the wit of an ordinary man to awaken the lost spirit of chivalry amid the shadows of axes and the sound of a zither. He then travels to the tightly regulated world of The Long Night, where he hears thunder in the silence and kindles the cold flame of justice amid the vortex of law and human nature. Next, he enters the world of The Legend of Sword and Fairy, tangled in the threads of fate, where he takes love as his blade, defies heaven to change destiny, and reveals the true meaning of protection amid the war between immortals and demons.
But Lin Xuan soon discovers that mending regrets is far more than simply setting things right. Every intervention disturbs cause and effect, drawing in stronger enemies and more profound crises. From a helpless bystander, he gradually grows into a challenger of rules and a player in the game of fate, until at last he becomes the founder of a new order.
The Myriad Worlds are both a proving ground and a textbook. He searches for the source of magic in the world of Harry Potter, and in the world of Naruto... He draws on the best of countless worlds, bringing magic and immortal cultivation together to forge a path of his own.
But why do the Myriad Worlds contain regrets? What awaits at the end of the Torchbearer's mission?...
