The sun was parasitized, and the dragon plague descended with the light. The living people hide in corners, waiting for the final extinguishment.
Morse couldn't wait. He personally killed his sister who was infected with the dragon plague, and has been haunted by her illusion ever since - she always stands quietly in the corner of his eye, saying "It doesn't matter."
He just wants to die. But he cannot die in front of his benefactor.
So he lied to himself and said, go and slay the dragon, and you will be considered a hero even if you die on the road.
Then, Morse embarked on this journey to seek death.
