The story begins with a sudden tragedy. The housekeeper's daughter Xia Weiming dies, and all evidence points to the heroine Jian Tong, a once confident and flamboyant daughter of the Jane Group. The male protagonist Shen Xiujin (the leader of the Shen Group), who deeply loved Xia Weiming, was so angry and grief-stricken that she refused to listen to any of Jian Tong's excuses and personally sent her to prison and instructed the prison staff to "take good care of her." She suffered three years of inhuman torture, leaving her physically and mentally disabled.
Three years later, Jian Tong was released from prison and his life had changed. In order to survive, she became a cleaner at the bottom of society. And Shen Xiujin appeared in her life again and continued to humiliate and torture her in various ways, thinking that she deserved it. Jian Tong changed from his initial defense to admitting his "crime", fighting against injustice in a desperate and heart-breaking way.
However, as the story progresses, Shen Xiujin gradually discovers that the truth of Xia Weiming's death is far from simple as it appears, and that she may have wronged Jian Tong. The intertwining of huge regret and increasingly clear love caused him to start a crazy "chasing his wife in the crematorium", but at this time Jian Tong's heart was full of holes. The second half of the story is about the ultimate pull, sad atonement and difficult reconciliation between the two after the truth is revealed.
