Journey to the West: I’m Taking It Easy and Pursuing Immortality, Yet the Buddhists Beg Me to Fetch the Sutras

[Lighthearted banter] [A schemer's diary] [The gods watch] [Proving the Dao through strength] [Journeying west without bowing to Buddha]

Reborn as Jiang Liu, he gains immortality by eating his own baby teeth and flesh. He slacks off the whole way and refuses to fetch the scriptures.

The Three Realms are shaken, the Buddhist sect panics, and the Tathagata begs him to journey west.

Jiang Liu transmigrates into the tenth life of Jin Chan Zi, but refuses to follow the original story.

At three, he twists the meaning of Buddhist sutras. At eight, he kills a tiger and turns his back on Buddhism.

He eats his baby teeth, tempers his body, and cultivates Yin Xi's Great Way, vowing to live forever and refusing to lift a finger.

Guanyin is so frantic she nearly jumps out of her skin. "Benefactor Jiang Liu, hurry up and obey the decree to fetch the scriptures!"

Jiang Liu smiles casually, mounts a tiger, and rides away. "This Daoist is going to the Western Heaven to enjoy the scenery. Who has time to fetch some scriptures?"

At Five Elements Mountain, the seal placed by the Tathagata is easily undone with the Dao De Jing.

Before Lion Camel Ridge, Jiang Liu leads a hundred thousand demons in a rout, killing three Buddhist sect spies.

In the end, he leads countless demons and simply overruns Spirit Mountain.

The Tathagata says, "Jiang Liu, I'll make you the Ancestor of Ten Thousand Buddhas. Please, just take up the position already!"

Jiang Liu casually flips open his diary. "What's the rush? I'm not done having fun yet."
