Story background: Jiangnan Wang family
Era: 1930s, Republic of China. Mountains and rivers are shattered, foreign enemies are watching eagerly, and old and new ideas collide fiercely.
Location: Jincheng, Suhang, Jiangnan. The Summer Palace, the ancestral residence of the Wang family, is located here, with pavilions and pavilions, and a leisurely ancient charm, like a peach blossom garden independent of the troubled times. However, under the intoxicating fragrance of flowers, there is a smell of gunpowder smoke and blood mixed with it.
Family: Wang family, a wealthy silk weaver in the south of the Yangtze River, a century-old family. The head of the family, Wang Zongyao, strives to maintain the family business in troubled times, and his thoughts are traditional and conservative. Within the family, wives and concubines compete for favor, children seize property, servants take sides, and there are turbulent undercurrents; outside the family, the Japanese invaders, National Government agents, underground revolutionaries and other forces have all extended their tentacles to this deep house.
