I’m Li Mo, and I bombed my college entrance exams. I was worrying about how I’d ever get into school when a sketchy university called “Dusk Academy” suddenly popped up on my computer. It promised the world: top-tier facilities, outrageously generous perks, and more. I wasn’t thinking straight, so I clicked, and then I was gone.
When I opened my eyes again, I was standing in this hellhole where it’s always dusk!
Only later did I find out this wasn’t a damn university at all. It was a death-training school in the underworld! Rules? None! A guide for new students? Dream on! The living and the dead attend classes together, and anyone who gives themselves away gets “expelled,” which means they’re killed on the spot.
Daily life is one deadly competition after another, and the only way to learn the rules is to risk your life. Win, and you might score a badass weapon, a special item, or even a “power card” that lets you command other people. Lose? You’ll be turned into fertilizer or made someone’s dog, with no chance of reincarnation for all eternity.
The five “schoolmates” who enrolled at the same time as me were all seriously weird:
* Two guys disappeared as soon as they arrived, leaving behind a scrap of paper like they were hotshots.
* One girl wrapped herself up like a mummy every day, terrified that someone might see her face.
* One cute girl looked timid as a mouse, but then turned around and screwed me over.
* The only girl who kindly offered to show me around campus had a crazy person hint that “shadows can split in two.”
* And there was one guy who was clearly out of his mind.
The most messed-up part is, they all seem to know I’m a clueless newbie! And nobody told me a damn thing...
If I want to survive, I have to watch out for classmates who may or may not be human, while figuring out the rules amid all the killing. But apparently, if you uncover every secret a person has, you can control them!?
