If There Is a Next Life, May I Be True to Both the Buddha and You

She, Ye Qinwan, was the young princess born as one of the Rui Prince’s twins. When she was born outside the manor, a wandering monk passed by and declared that the black lotus mark on her body was an ill omen, and that one day she would bathe the Rui household in blood. The prince sent his newborn daughter to Yuntai Temple that very night. He, Yun Qing, was an orphan rescued by the abbot, five years her senior. He watched her grow from a tiny bundle no bigger than a pillow into a graceful young woman. Before he knew it, his heart had strayed from the path of cultivation. When the Rui Prince brought her back to replace her twin sister and marry the heir, who lay unconscious, Yun Qing was overcome with grief and could do nothing but pray for her. He thought the heir’s awakening would bring her happiness, but just three days after their wedding, the heir passed away. On his deathbed, the heir entrusted her care to the emperor. On the day she came of age, she married a young marquis, only to discover it was all part of the marquis’s scheme. She was sent north to marry into the Di tribe… How will Yun Qing turn from Buddha to demon, taking up a butcher’s blade with the hand that once recited sutras? What kind of tragic love will unfold between them?
