Mu Xiyang is sunny and gets along with everyone, yet never gets especially close to anyone. She is lonely, but she also loves and enjoys being alone. Cheng Zhao is a senior in his final year of high school, handsome and sunny, and one of the most popular students at school. One day, while bringing something to his grandfather, Cheng Zhao meets Mu Xiyang, who is playing chess with the old man. From then on, Cheng Zhao gradually opens the door to Mu Xiyang’s solitude. Though she resists at first, she slowly accepts the liveliness he brings, eventually growing used to it. This also foreshadows the sense of loss and disappointment Mu Xiyang will often feel later on.
