Deep in the old streets of the city, the wooden door of the Traveler’s Bookshop is always left ajar. The owner, Tan Xin, is invariably dressed in a crisp white shirt. Behind his gold-rimmed glasses, his bright eyes conceal a secret that spans time and space. He guards a rare book titled The Twenty-Fourth Page. Its chapters are named for the twenty-four solar terms, each opening onto a separate time and place, and it has only twenty-four pages. Anyone trapped by life who touches a page will fall into a strange realm tied to the meaning of that solar term.
Eleven visitors, including college student Li Xiaohan and lawyer Zhang Hui, enter the bookshop one after another, each driven by a personal obsession. They seek new beginnings in the frozen earth of Start of Spring, search for the truth in the mist of Rain Water, and find courage amid the thunder of Awakening of Insects... Each solar-term realm conceals social issues and emotional dilemmas. As their guide, Tan Xin stays by their side as they face their pasts and find redemption.
But Tan Xin himself is the central mystery: he was the first person to lose his way inside The Twenty-Fourth Page. Because he failed its final trial twenty years ago, he became trapped in the bookshop. Only by gathering twenty-four insights of awakening can he break the closed loop of time and find his own way out. As the solar terms turn, the visitors discover that their paths in the real world have long been intertwined. Finally, in the depths of winter, they join together to redeem both Tan Xin and themselves.
