A Good Man Should Rule the Roost in Troubled Times

When writing this novel, I always had one thought in mind: In the year of Jingkang, China was in ruins and the world was in chaos. How did ordinary people live? It doesn't rely on the system, it doesn't rely on cheating, it doesn't rely on being invincible all the way, but it relies on people's hearts, relying on teamwork, relying on food, relying on coal and iron, relying on soldiers, and relying on a little bit of hope earned in desperate situations. The protagonist is not a born hero. He has fears, hesitations, calculations, responsibilities, and the growth of having to harden his heart in troubled times. I wrote about building strongholds, building walls, cultivating fields, digging coal, smelting iron, and making armor. I wrote about the gathering of refugees and the gathering of people's hearts. I wrote about a group of people relying on each other in the darkness to keep their way out. What I want to write about is real troubled times, real survival, and real human nature. There is cruelty, warmth, helplessness, persistence, and the simplest and most powerful power of little people in the big era. This is not a fast-paced novel, but it is the most thoughtful, down-to-earth, and pyrotechnic story I have written. I hope everyone who reads it carefully can understand the weight of survival in troubled times.
