Rivers and Mountains Stained with Blood: Chronicles of the War Against Japan

In 1937, Lu Changfeng, the son of a hunter in the Taihang Mountains, is forced to take up a hunting rifle. With an old bolt-action rifle, he begins an eight-year career as a sniper. He grows from an inexperienced youth into a legendary marksman, while the crosshairs of his scope make him confront the nature of humanity. He defeats powerful enemies, but loses his comrades, the woman he loves, and even the feeling in his fingers. When the war is won, this veteran, bearing the weight of nearly 300 lives and scars from bullets all over his body, discovers that the hardest thing is not killing, but learning how to live like a human being again.
