Plant Telepathy: Solving Mysteries With Houseplants

Lin Ye is a horticulturist at a botanical garden who can read fragments of crimes witnessed by plants through touch. The information is disjointed, so he must piece together the truth using criminal investigation and deduction. He works outside the police force, secretly cooperating only with police captain Zhao Rui.

A string of murders keeps occurring, with a “Black Prince” succulent left at every crime scene. The plants pass on clues such as “the smell of disinfectant” and “you destroyed my tree.” Lin Ye suffers splitting headaches and constant nosebleeds as his ability nears collapse.

While investigating the secrets behind an old-town redevelopment project, he discovers that every victim took part in cutting down trees there years ago. The plants’ memories point to the doctor Chen Mo as the killer, seeking revenge. At last, in an abandoned research facility, a gathering of pothos plants shows the way, and Zhao Rui swoops in to close the net.

With the case solved, Lin Ye becomes a “special consultant” for the police. Then an unusual potted plant quietly sends him a strange message. A new shadow is spreading.
