After I Stepped Aside, the General Killed His Moonlight the Night She Took a Blade for Him

I am the general's principal wife, yet my husband threatens me with the account books proving my elder brother's corruption:

"Give up your position as mistress of the household, or the entire Su family will be executed."

That night, my fingers turned white as I clutched my handkerchief, but I smiled and nodded. "Fine. I'll give it up."

But no one knows that I have long had my eye on that "frail prisoner of war":

The blue flowers on her windowsill, the cinnabar at her cuffs, the iron-eating bugs beneath the rockery...

Every step is one of her moves toward restoring her kingdom. And I will turn her chessboard into her coffin.

On the eve of the palace banquet, I took a blade meant for him, and blood stained my shoulder.

He furiously stabbed her through the chest, then fell to his knees and begged me to forgive him.

But I only smiled. "General, I never got my position as mistress of the household from you.

I won it back inch by inch with my blood, my life, and these hands clenched around my handkerchief."
