I am the miserable monk Sui Sanzang, a schemer who relies on mortal wit, spinning mad, hilarious plots within plots. Singing and dancing are all part of the act.
With a mortal body, I set out to fetch the scriptures, using every trick in the book, swindling and deceiving gods and immortals along the way. I recruit monsters and demons as we travel, building my power and ushering in a glorious age for the demon race.
Others cultivate to attain the Dao and become immortals. I stuff myself and bulk up, training my body so I can become a little cockroach that demons can't beat to death. I survive one tribulation after another, until at last I reach Spirit Mountain and debate the Dao with Buddha.
