Let Me Sleep for the Rest of My Life on This Day

While performing an autopsy on her younger sister, forensic examiner Ye Qingyu finds unfamiliar skin tissue beneath her fingernails and traces of a special industrial dye on her clothes. She concludes that her sister’s death was no accident, but a deliberate murder. Before she can investigate, however, her husband, Zhou Siheng, the business tycoon of Jingbei, stands in her way, simply because the suspect is the younger brother of Jiang Yin, the woman he has fallen for.

Zhou Siheng threatens Ye Qingyu with her mother’s life, forcing her to sign a waiver relinquishing any claim to pursue the case. When she refuses to back down, he cruelly cripples the right hand she has used to wield a forensic scalpel for over a decade. Later, during a car accident, he unhesitatingly shields Jiang Yin, who has suffered only minor injuries, leaving Ye Qingyu trapped in the crushed car, bleeding profusely.

Ye Qingyu claws her way back from the brink of death, only to discover that Zhou Siheng has already signed the divorce papers. Then she hears that Jiang Yin has brought people to her sister’s grave, intending to disturb the dead. Finally awakened, Ye Qingyu uses her one remaining hand to pore over the case files and apply her forensic expertise to untangle the clues: she traces the dye to identify the killer’s movements, uses trace evidence to expose Jiang Yin’s lies, and uncovers the truth about Zhou Siheng abusing his power to cover up the crime.

In the end, the evidence comes to light, and Jiang Yin, her brother, and Zhou Siheng are brought to justice. Ye Qingyu leaves Jingbei with her recovering mother and starts over in a new city. She takes up her forensic scalpel once more, giving a voice to the dead while bringing peace to her sister and redeeming herself.
