The Tragic Lovers of the Three Kingdoms: An Unofficial History

The halberd sweeps sand across the execution ground,

Tears are secretly wiped away before my stepfather.

Once we shared a bed and spoke of kingdoms,

Now we face each other with blades and break our bond.

There are no words left for the hatred between Dong and Lü,

So strike quickly and end this lovers’ torment.

The absurd Three Kingdoms were a dream upon the pillow,

May we become inseparable birds and soar together through the rosy clouds.
