A lighthearted xianxia comedy that turns the genre on its head. In his previous life, Celestial Venerable Yan was betrayed by his beloved and fell out with his sworn brothers. Reborn as the only male disciple of the Yuqing Sect, he planned to play the pig to eat the tiger and cultivate in secret. Instead, every senior sister in the sect treated him like a spiritual pet and kept him as one. He thought he could easily crush these “ignorant female cultivators,” only to discover he couldn’t even break the sect’s most basic ward, and even a Foundation Establishment senior sister could tie him up like a dumpling with a beginner sword technique. Amid daily indignities like “head pats,” “soul-pinning needles in the butt,” and “being fed in turn by the senior sisters,” the once all-powerful Celestial Venerable gradually uncovers the secrets hidden within this all-female sect and embarks on a very different path of revenge.
1. Subversive xianxia: A domineering protagonist is reborn and ends up being raised instead; a big shot reduced to a pet
2. A cast of women: Every senior sister has her own personality and growth arc
3. Innovative cultivation: Traditional cultivation meets the sect’s distinctive techniques
4. Subtle emotions: A shift from “being raised” to protecting one another
5. Lighthearted and healing: Cozy everyday moments alongside the revenge plot
