Jade Sinking in the Ashen Sea: A Lamp for Ten Years

In the bustling yet sharply divided megacity of Shencheng: At the top: Gu Chenzhou's thousand-square-meter mansion, where a single crystal chandelier costs as much as half a year's rent for Su Qingyuan's home; Su Manni's luxury jewelry, where one piece costs as much as three months of her mother's dialysis. At the bottom: Su Qingyuan's cramped top-floor room in an urban village, with rent of 800 yuan a month and freezing winters and sweltering summers; her convenience store night shift pays 18 yuan an hour, and she has to work three jobs to cover medical bills. The class divide: Su Qingyuan scrapes herself while rescuing a child, as Gu Chenzhou's luxury car drives past. Gu Chenzhou casually turns “Xiaoyuan's shop” into a parking lot, and she doesn't even have the right to fight back. The root of every tragedy is that “those at the bottom can't stand up to those at the top.”
