Synopsis of Heartbeat Swap
On a live-streamed dating reality show called Heartbeat Swap, the two protagonists meet because of a carefully orchestrated “bet.”
The male lead, Lu Xingchen, is a top crisis-management expert who believes in absolute rationality. Haunted by childhood trauma, he is convinced that every emotion can be quantified and every relationship engineered. To prove his theory, he personally devises and joins the show, intending to make his target, Su Yue, fall completely for the perfect romance he has designed by carefully investing just the right amount of “emotional value.” Su Yue is a documentary filmmaker renowned for capturing genuine feelings.
The female lead, Su Yue, is a staunch guardian of “genuine heartbeats.” Her camera is always trained on unvarnished, authentic human emotion. When Lu Xingchen extends his calculated invitation, she boldly accepts the challenge and decides to “step into the game herself.” She will use her camera to record every falsehood and flaw behind this “manufactured romance,” showing the audience how precious sincerity is.
And so begins a battle of wits between two experts in the urban dating game. Lu Xingchen proceeds carefully, meticulously staging every chance encounter and tender gesture. Su Yue stays cool and observant, repeatedly spotting traces of calculation beneath the perfection and striking back with sharp documentary footage. Under the gaze of tens of millions of viewers, they engage in a brilliant battle of wits over “design” and “counter-design,” “playing games” and “sincere feelings.”
Yet amid their countless contests, unexpected things begin to happen. One night, an unexpected power outage leads to a heart-to-heart, giving them a glimpse of each other's armor
