Gu Cen is a cannon-fodder character whose only role is to be sacrificed at the start of the main plot in a discontinued supernatural mystery comic. He is the comic’s first victim, not even worthy of a name.

It turns out that all these loops were caused by Comic Savior System 307.
The System tells him that this world is essentially just a comic. To boost sales, the author took a detective story and turned it into a supernatural one, ruining the characters and leaving the comic unfinished, which caused the world to collapse. The only way to change his fate as cannon fodder is to replace the original leads, whose characters have fallen apart, and become the real protagonist, allowing the original story to reach a proper conclusion.
His from-the-start reward is the supernatural ability [Eerie Containment]. The reader appreciation points he earns with each comic update can be exchanged for various skills and items.
So Gu Cen uses the System to present himself as the protagonist of a System-powered supernatural story, punching eerie entities and kicking villains. Even the original male and female leads become his devoted fans.
He is clearly the protagonist, yet behaves even more like a villain than the villains themselves. Then, when the comic finally reaches its conclusion, he stands upon the scales of chaos and uses his own body to uphold peace and justice in the world.
