All the missing persons have engaged in "free prostitution" behavior (such as theft, fare evasion, and non-payment of debts), and clues point to a cult organization called "The Balancing Hand", which worships and embodies the conceptual entity of "equivalent exchange" (derived from the core contradiction in the world view).
